Goodbye Glenn Webb

Glenn Webb

When i was 13 years old I stumbled upon the Reblscum.com forums. It became one of the greatest discoveries of my pre-adult life…. a forum, a community, a safe haven… one where I could share my opinions and get insights on toy collecting my beloved hobby. Here I am ten years later, an adult, still collecting action figures and yet still a very active member of a lot of these communities dedicated to sharing their love and insights into the world of action figures. During all this time i’ve watched the collecting community gain voices through Youtube reviewers, unexpectedly some of my favorite content on the web. We lost a good one this past weekend folks! and it was more than enough to get me wanting to write this down… after a long hiatus

DC Club Infinite Earths Damian Wayne Figure

Father and Son shot

Ok, so its been a little while since i posted up anything. THIS is the best possible way i know how to make a come back to regular postings. I managed to snag Mattel’s upcoming Damian Wayne action figure. Originally intended to be released as part of their Batman Unlimited line, this figure was instead added to Mattel’s final Club Infinite Earths wave as their subscription program for 2014 was unable to come into fruition. So how does this figure stack up when comparing it to past DC Universe Classics figures? Hit the jump to find out!

Son of Batman

Son-of-Batman

Ok, so physical release on DVD/Blu-Ray has been out for some time, it seems it is safe for me to finally review this film now, especially given it’s leak online pre Wondercon, Wondercon premiere. First!, i must fess up, i downloaded this the day it leaked…. yeah, pirating is bad, and as someone who works in the entertainment field i get how awful that can be-however- as soon as Itunes had it i went ahead and bought the full on HD copy (especially for the extras, i’m a sucker for that type of content). I do, also plan on getting the physical copy, why? because i’m a nut that is why!. Ok, with that out of the way i must say this film is overall… enjoyable…

Star Wars Black Series Stormtrooper Review

IMG_2041

MAY THE 4th BE WITH YOU!….Hasbro continues to blow me away with every new wave of it’s The Black Series 6 Inch figure line. The Stormtrooper, here, hails from the third wave of this new and exciting series of figures. Theres nothing new about a Stormtrooper action figure, there have been many before, but never have we had one in scale with Marvel Legends and DC Universe Classics figures in “6” inch glory. But, aside from that little cool factor… What else does it have?

Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett

The toy aisles at your local Targets, Toys R Us, Walmart, or wherever it is you buy toys from today are getting (hopefully) the latest in the Star Wars toy line from Hasbro. In my honest and most sincere opinion Hasbro is hitting it out of the park with this new venture into the 6 inch format.

SON OF BATMAN!

DWANF

Since it’s announcement back in the summer of 2013, I have awaited for a glimpse of this film. I -initially- was taken a bit aback by the voice of choice for Damian, however after a little time to really let it sink in I’m happy with it. Animated debuts are of importance for DC characters as they tend to really push a character into the spotlight or can also be a hint as to where this character will be taken in other aspects of the DC company plan and so I eagerly awaited to see this trailer for Son of Batman because oh man, I”ve not been too pleased with the way the character has been treated recently in the comics(i.e his death and lackluster miniseries).

Batman Li’l Gotham #24 The End

photo 2 (10)

And so it ends. It ends not exclusively with great sadness but on a happy note, and on an occasion quite fitting for the normally holiday themed series. This issue marks the end of Li’l Gotham and while I’m really bummed to see it go; I hold hope that it may one day return. If not, The stories we have now will live on for years to come regardless. What this series accomplished is nothing short of amazing, an all ages book with a timeless tone, and whisks of nostalgia, fun, creativity, and lessons to be cherished for many years. In an era of ever seemingly increasing violence and a lack of good old fashioned comics for kids this book defied the norm and held it’s ground in a league all of it’s own.
